Curtis K. Hughes: Verbiage world premiere

Arnold Schoenberg: Suite, Op. 29

William Kraft: Settings from Pierrot Lunaire
Sarah Pelletier, soprano

Symbols and allusions abound in BMV’s second concert of the season. Schoenberg embeds melodic references to his wife in the dance-inspired Suite, Op. 29. Commissioned by the Arnold Schoenberg Institute for the 75th anniversary of Schoenberg’s masterpiece, Kraft’s Settings from Pierrot Lunaire uses a different selection of the Pierrot poetry cycle to colorfully conjure the protagonist’s surreal world. Boston composer Curtis K. Hughes contributes his world-premiere sextet Verbiage.
